The Daylife Cookbook is a collection of recipes to help you bootstrap applications that use the Daylife platform (DayPI).
These recipes come from Daylifers and the cookbook community, with entries ranging from sample code to tutorials, half baked ideas, and spotlights of the latest deployments of the DayPI.

NCAA Brackets on BracketBoy
Starledger's NCAA Bracket Blog BracketBoy got a uplift with a new fabulous design and the latest news, photos and quotes about NCAA teams using the DayPI.
BracketBoy comes from the same folks as Pharmalot. The star developer Hassan is now a DayPI expert and integrated DayPI in the Python web framework Django.
Ideation
The BracketBoy folks came to us with a clear goal - bring the latest stories and photos to the bracket boy audience about college basketball, NCAA and the NCAA Teams.
Each NCAA team gets its own team page on the bracketboy site. Each of these pages has a photo gallery with the latest photos from the games and a stream of articles and quotes that are written about the team.
In addition, there is a photo gallery and articles and quotes from the mix of teams on the News & Photos landing page.
Topics
The pages for NCAA teams on BracketBoy are powered by the Search APIs. The NCAA teams usually have the same name as the name of the location they are located in. For e.g. Purdue or Arizona State University. In the given time frame we decided not to build topics for these teams. Rather, Hassan came up with very innovative queries to narrow down on Men's College Basketball coverage. Here is a query that powers the Purdue team page:

Bracketboy used the Django framework to pull the data from the DayPIs. They took the python DayPI client from our code samples and integrated it in Django. Bracketboy calls the Search APIs to get stories, photos and quotes for each team every 10 minutes and store the data on their side. Having a data store gives full control to the Bracketboy Editorial team to promote or demote any article, photo or quote on the site.
The BracketBoy implementation was a great learning experience for us and has motivated us to implement new methods for creating topics like the NCAA teams.
